Some of the biggest names in live music and events production, including Phay Mac Mahon, Bonnie May, Okan Tombulca, Padraic Boran and Lina Ugrinovska, are among those set to feature in the first in-person edition of the International Live Music Conference’s Production Meeting since the pandemic.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the ILMC Production Meeting will be held on April 26 at London’s Royal Garden Hotel, in what organisers are promising will be the event’s ‘biggest and strongest’ outing to date.

Phay Mac Mahon is one of the leading production managers in the international touring business. From the ‘70s to the present day, he has worked with the likes of Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats, Def Leppard, The Pretenders, Adam Ant, Paul Young, Moody Blues, Whitesnake, Aerosmith and may more. He was also a much sought-after lighting designer until the 1990s, working with the likes of Shakira, West Life, Meat Loaf, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin and Nicki Minage.

Bonnie May is the CEO of Global Infusion Group, which delivers events and brand logistic support to everything from premium private events, royal weddings, governmental summits, international automotive roadshows, world expos and major sporting events worldwide, including the Olympics since 2012. She will be speaking with veteran show director and stage manager Asthie Wendra about the industry’s response to the challenges posed by Covid and Brexit in part one of this year’s ‘Perfect Storm Mega Panel’.

Meanwhile, Lina Ugrinovska, founder and CEO of Banana & Salt and one of the best-known booking agents in the Balkans, will be joined by NoNonsense Group director Liz Madden and Britannia Row Productions director Bryan Grant for a panel exploring the relationship between the live industry’s old guard and its up and coming executive talent.

Elsewhere, MCD Productions’ Padraic Boran will be hosting a panel on The Power Of Energy, which will discuss what energy will look like in the future and how it will affect the events industry. It will look at renewable power and immediate problems around availability, practicality and expense.

Meanwhile, E3S sessions will run throughout the day, including a Crowd Management Tabletop created and delivered by the Yourope Event Safety Group (YES) and Mind Over Matter Consultancy (MOM); a Crowd Communication And Behaviours panel; and a discussion around Rethinking Risk And Building Resilience In Event Operations, both in association with EAA, UKCMA and the Global Crowd Management Alliance.

A daughter event to the main International Live Music Conference (ILMC), IPM takes place the day before the live music industry conference, with a series of dedicated panels with a clear international focus, a networking lunch and closing drinks. Open dialogue from across the production world is actively encouraged, and the vast majority of delegates are present in all of the meetings.

Beginning in 2007 as a focused roundtable meeting between invited production professionals, IPM now encompasses towards 400 of the world’s top production managers, sound and lighting engineers, venue personnel, suppliers and promoters’ representatives. Delegates attend from over 35 countries, as far afield as Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
