TAIT and Production park agree expansion and sustainability partnership

News

TAIT and Production Park have further cemented their partnership as TAIT increases its footprint at Production Park in Wakefield, Yorkshire.

The move is not only a positive inward investment in Yorkshire, but also serves as proof of the drawing power of Production Park, the UK’s premier live events, film, and TV campus, as it continues to grow an already impressive community of global brands which includes higher education institution, Backstage Academy, and XPLOR – the world’s first research and innovation centre for entertainment technology and production.

In line with the wider industry’s move towards sustainable development, and with both Production Park and TAIT leading the way in their approach to environmental practices and values, sustainability is at the heart of the companies’ partnership.

Production Park has already integrated a variety of sustainable solutions across the campus particularly in terms of construction, power, waste and transport, with initiatives which embrace environmentally friendly design and construction to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating across all new buildings, including TAIT’s new unit. In addition, all incoming power is fully renewable and solar water heating panels have been installed at the arena-sized Studio 001.

With the goal of minimising waste and moving to renewables, all communal spaces at the campus follow Zero to Landfill principals. Furthermore, all service vehicles are electric, with Production Park continuing to roll out charging points to service its expanding EV fleet, as well as the growing number of staff-owned electric cars.

TAIT’s new unit has solar PV panels installed on the roof to power the space and a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) in the form of an attenuation tank runs underneath.

Commenting, Carol Scott, Principal Sustainability Advocate at TAIT said: “To make our operations more sustainable requires not only whole systems thinking but also a collaborative approach with the relevant stakeholders. Both TAIT and the team at Production Park are aligned with the concept that we have to meet our business needs today but we shouldn’t compromise the future. We are excited to be a part of the Production Park community as it leads the charge in sustainable development”

Production Park’s Co-Founder & CEO Lee Brooks added: “We are delighted with TAIT’s decision to grow its footprint with us. TAIT’s work in the entertainment industry is unrivalled and their presence on Production Park is central to what makes our community unique and world leading.

Over the past few years, we have built an innovative, creative partnership with TAIT and we can’t wait to continue our collaboration whilst reducing our environmental impact. Sustainability has become a business imperative and as the wider industry continues to gravitate towards sustainable practices, we are excited about elevating our own initiatives, particularly in terms of power, transport, construction and waste, with a view to meeting our Net Zero target.”
